The Charlotte, NC Chapter was chartered on February 25, 1950, with 36 members. It was sponsored by the Ashville, NC Chapter. It was the fourth chapter to be chartered in the Carolinas, the 29th chapter to be chartered in the Dixie District, and Chapter 481 of SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of BarberShop Quartet Singing in America). Phillips T. Williams was the founder and Manley McWilliams was the president.
