Our Director

The director of The Gold Standard Chorus…Larry Lane

Larry is an accomplished singer, musician, and music educator.  He grew up in Charlotte attending South Mecklenburg High School and graduated from Winthrop College in 1986 with a Bachelors in Music Education.


He has played trumpet professionally for dozens of Broadway touring shows.  He’s an active vocal musician, vocal coach, and conductor having sung in and directed the jazz group IMPROMPTU, served as Director of the Main Stage Chorus of the Charlotte Choral Society, and also guest conductor for the Metrolina Music Ministries.

Larry’s professional career encompasses 23 years of teaching in the Charlotte School System.  He’s a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and is the Music Director at Benton’s Crossroads Baptist Church in Monroe, NC.

Larry sings lead with Zero Hour, the 2013 Carolinas District quartet champions. He and his wonderful wife Robin and have two daughters, Austin and Amanda, and four granddaughters.
